After all, the last thing you want to do is fall off-track with your treatment plan. Luckily, orthodontic treatment and a relaxing vacation aren’t mutually exclusive. Keep reading to learn more!
Tip #1. Pack All the Essentials
Packing comfortable clothes for your trip back and a nice outfit for your night out are important, but so is packing all of your oral hygiene essentials. Before taking off, make sure to double and triple-check that you have your toothbrush, floss, and mouthwash. You should also pack your previous aligners (in case you misplace your current ones).
Tip #2. Don’t Stray from Your Routine
Going on vacation is all about breaking from your day-to-day routine. While unplugging is certainly essential, don’t stray too far. To stay on-track with your Invisalign treatment, make sure to continue wearing your aligners for 22 hours a day and brushing your teeth after each meal. If your day to change your trays occurs during your vacation, make sure to set a reminder for yourself so you don’t forget.
Tip #3. Only Use Clean, Lukewarm Water to Clean Your Trays
Whether you’re out on the road or staying in a beautiful hotel, you should keep clean water on hand. Not only can you use it to wet your toothbrush, but you can also rinse your aligners with it. Double-check that it is lukewarm, though. Hot water can quickly warp your trays, rendering them virtually useless.
Tip #4. Store Your Cases Properly
When you’re dining out, don’t leave your aligners out in the open or wrapped in a napkin. These are two of the most common reasons they get thrown away or misplaced. Instead, rinse them off thoroughly before putting them in their designated storage case. For added measure, place that storage case in the exact same spot every time, like a specific pocket in your purse.
On your upcoming trip, you deserve to relax, take in your surroundings, and explore. Don’t worry – Invisalign won’t get in the way of any of that. Just make sure to continue to be mindful of your treatment. That way, you enjoy your vacation and stay on-track with your plan!
